The episode. Episode 22 of FOTechHub’s Tech-NEW-logy series, published January 29, 2026. Dave Petersen, Director of Technology Consulting at Northern Trust, moderates. Dave works with family offices and private wealth organizations on technology strategy, system selection, and operating model design. He interviews the CEOs of two firms, both new to their roles.
Aquilance (John Carey, CEO). Aquilance recently raised $16m from Ten Coves Capital, its first institutional funding in 39 years, to modernise advisor-led bill pay and money management. The firm supports wealth management firms and family offices with financial administration covering bill payment, cash flow oversight, and consolidated reporting, on institutional-grade infrastructure. Founded in 1987, it’s now re-examining how its long-established operating model evolves, reflecting broader industry shifts toward more flexibility in how technology, services, and operating support are delivered.
Masttro (Jay McNamara, CEO). Masttro’s new AI-driven Masttro Intelligence reflects a broader shift toward real-time insight and clearer data. It’s a global wealth and asset reporting platform for complex family offices, UHNW individuals, and investment organizations, giving real-time consolidated visibility across assets, entities, and ownership structures. Over the past year it added integrations with Arch and Canoe and launched Masttro Intelligence, signalling a shift toward a more open, connected, intelligence-driven reporting ecosystem.
The throughline. Both firms are early in new CEO tenures and repositioning around flexibility, openness, and real-time intelligence, Aquilance modernizing a decades-old services model with fresh capital, Masttro layering AI onto its reporting platform.
